Residents in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, should prepare for a significant drop in temperature and heavy rain starting on Tuesday 24 March 2026. This shift marks the end of a recent warm spell and will bring windier, colder conditions to the area.
The Met Office expects heavy rain to begin on Tuesday evening with a 95 per cent chance of downpours. Wind speeds are also forecast to pick up during the day, reaching gusts of 37mph.
Conditions will turn even colder on Wednesday 25 March 2026, with temperatures hitting a high of only 8°C and falling to 0°C overnight. Sleet is expected early in the morning, and strong winds of 42mph will make the air feel as cold as -4°C.
This sudden change comes after a warm week where temperatures across the country reached 20°C. Chief forecaster Steve Willington from the Met Office said that these colder spells are normal for March.
Despite the heavy rain, the GOV.UK flood service reports that there are no flood warnings currently in place. The risk of flooding in West Yorkshire is considered very low for the coming days.
Thursday 26 March 2026 is set to be the coldest day of the week, with a maximum temperature of just 7°C. The weather is expected to settle down towards the end of the week as winds become lighter and the rain clears.
