Huddersfield Leisure Centre’s summer pool programme is now available, covering the main school holidays from 20 July to 7 August. The timetable has been published online by Kirklees Active Leisure, the charitable trust that runs the Spring Grove Street centre on behalf of the council.
Sessions range from public swims and lane swimming to a broad programme of aqua fitness classes including Aqua Fit, Aqua Combat, Aqua Zumba, Aqua HIIT, Aqua Med and Aqua Relax. The centre’s 25m competition pool and 20m training pool also host KAL swim lessons, performance squads, female-only sessions and adult learn-to-swim courses. All bookings cover up to an hour. KAL advises securing a spot through its app or website.
The centre opened in June 2015 as a £36m replacement for the old Huddersfield Sports Centre. KAL, which manages 14 leisure facilities across Kirklees, describes it as one of West Yorkshire’s most comprehensive swimming venues—the first in the area to house a 25m competition pool capable of staging regional and national short-course meets. Regular opening times are 6:30am to 10pm on weekdays and 8am to 8pm at weekends.
Alongside the pools, the complex offers two sports halls, squash courts, a martial arts studio, an indoor soft play area, a climbing centre and a café. A Splash Park with water slides and a lazy river provides additional leisure options for families. Gym membership starts at £23 a month, and a £7 Flexi Card gives a 20 per cent discount on activities.
