On February 2, 2026, The Welcome Centre in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, announced it has been awarded a grant from the National Lottery Community Fund to keep its support services running for the next three years. This money will help the charity continue its work providing food parcels and expert advice to residents who are struggling with the cost of living.
The funding is specifically set aside to cover the costs of staff who work in the centre’s advice and support service. These team members provide one-to-one help for people to deal with the root causes of their financial problems, such as debt or issues with benefits.
By investing in these staff roles, the organisation hopes to help people find a way to become independent so they do not need to use a food bank in the long term. The centre currently supports about 2,000 individuals and families across the community every single month.
The charity is an independent organisation based at 15 Lord Street and also runs a warehouse in the Lockwood area to store its supplies. This new funding means the centre can keep providing essential items like food, toiletries, and bedding while also offering professional guidance to those in need.
