A serving officer from West Yorkshire Police who works in the Kirklees area has been charged with two counts of sexual assault. Ben Hutchison, 26, is based in the district that covers Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, and was charged on February 19, 2026.

The officer also faces charges for common assault and assault by beating following allegations related to his conduct while he was off-duty. According to West Yorkshire Police, he has been suspended from all duties.

He is now due to appear before Bradford Magistrates’ Court on the morning of February 23, 2026. The case is being heard in a different city to ensure the legal process remains independent and fair.

This case follows a report from West Yorkshire Police which showed that 21 officers were under investigation for sexual offences as of September 2025. About half of the officers involved in those investigations were suspended from their roles at that time.
