A new all-in-one library hub is set to open in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, in September 2026 to provide residents with a central point for local services. The new facility is a main part of the Our Cultural Heart project, which aims to improve the town centre for the local community.

According to Kirklees Council, the purpose-built building will bring together several different services into one place. This will include the main library, council support desks, and the West Yorkshire Archive Service.

The council has also secured £86,000 in funding from Arts Council England to help pay for community activities. This money will be used to run events and programmes at the site both before and after the official opening day in late 2026.

The new hub is designed to be a social and cultural space where people can meet, learn, and access help with council tasks. While the library currently operates from a temporary site, the move to the permanent building in September 2026 will mark a major step in the town centre project.
