A new Boots health and beauty store will open at Kingsgate Shopping Centre in Huddersfield on Wednesday, 8 April 2026. The retailer is moving from its current King Street location to a 16,000 square foot unit near Hollowgate, taking over the space previously occupied by Next, which closed in July 2025.
Boots has signed a 10-year lease for the new store. The company confirmed it will relocate the Boots King Street store in spring 2026 as part of the Huddersfield town centre redevelopment plan. The current Boots store on King Street at the Piazza Shopping Centre is expected to close in early June 2026.
The move comes as Huddersfield undergoes significant transformation. The Piazza Shopping Centre, where Boots currently trades, is scheduled for demolition to make way for a new town centre park as part of the wider regeneration plans. Steve Bateman, asset manager at Kingsgate Shopping Centre, has noted that the town centre is changing with retail and leisure offers being brought together to strengthen Kingsgate’s position as the main shopping hub.
Kingsgate Shopping Centre changed hands in 2024/2025 when it was sold to new owners for approximately £32 million. This sale ended WD Huddersfield Ltd’s 30-year involvement with the centre. The Boots store is set to open its doors on 8 April 2026.
