West Yorkshire Police Major Collision Enquiry Team is appealing for witnesses after a 93-year-old woman died nearly five weeks following a road collision in Netherton.

The incident occurred at 12:10pm on 24 February 2026 on Netherton Lane, near the junction with Netherton Hall Drive. The woman was a front seat passenger in a red Hyundai i10 that collided with a parked white Ford Transit camper van. The vehicle had been travelling from the direction of Horbury Bridge, and the 88-year-old male driver was uninjured in the collision.

Although the woman was assessed as having minor injuries at the scene, her condition declined while in hospital. She passed away in a hospice on 28 March 2026. Investigators are now working under Operation Panderhouse to establish the full circumstances of the event and are asking anyone who witnessed the collision or the events leading up to it to come forward.

Police are specifically requesting dashcam footage from anyone who may have been in the area at the time. Members of the public can submit footage or report information through the Safer Roads Media Submissions portal, which is designed to assist with road safety investigations.

This investigation takes place as part of a wider effort by the West Yorkshire Vision Zero strategy. This partnership between the police, local authorities, and the combined authority aims to eliminate all road deaths and serious injuries across the county by 2040. National statistics from the Department for Transport show that in 2024, 22 per cent of road fatalities in Great Britain involved individuals aged 70 and over.
