Huddersfield Giants forward Sam Hewitt will miss this week’s game after receiving a one-match suspension following a league disciplinary review. Hewitt was charged for making late contact with a player during the team’s recent home match against Wakefield Trinity in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire.
The Match Review Panel handed down the decision on February 23, 2026. This specific charge added five penalty points to Hewitt’s record, which pushed his total for the last year to seven points and triggered an automatic ban.
While eight other players across the league faced charges after the weekend matches, Hewitt was the only player to receive an immediate suspension. Huddersfield Giants head coach Luke Robinson said the team’s ongoing issues with player availability and injuries have felt like a bit of a jinx.
Hewitt, who came through the club’s youth system, will be unavailable for the away game against the Castleford Tigers. The match is set to take place at 20:00 on Friday, February 27, 2026, at The OneBore Stadium.
