Residents in Huddersfield can expect a week of changeable weather as the Met Office warns of a mix of sunny intervals and rain, alongside high pollen levels that may affect those with hay fever.

Monday 13 April is forecast to reach a maximum temperature of 13°C, featuring sunny intervals and a 30% chance of rain by 3pm. While conditions will be breezy with wind gusts reaching 15mph, the regional forecast for Yorkshire and Humber also notes a risk of hail and thunder during afternoon showers. Temperatures in rural parts of the area are expected to drop to -1°C overnight.

Conditions are expected to turn warmer by mid-week, with Wednesday 15 April projected to be the warmest day at 18°C. However, this day will also bring light rain, particularly in the early morning, and stronger winds with gusts up to 31mph.

The Met Office reports that high levels of pollen will persist throughout most of the week. Senior Scientist Lucy Neal noted that the combination of warm, dry, and breezy weather creates ideal conditions for trees to release pollen and for it to be carried over longer distances. The current high levels are driven by what experts describe as a triple threat of birch, ash, and plane tree pollens, which is causing widespread hay fever symptoms across Yorkshire and the wider country.
