The New Wolsey Theatre in Ipswich, Suffolk, has announced it will stage a rock and roll version of Cinderella for the 2026 festive season. The production is set to run from November 20, 2026, until January 16, 2027, as part of the community-wide holiday celebrations.

The show will use a special format where the actors also serve as the live band, playing their own musical instruments on stage. This high-energy style combines the traditional fairy tale story with various rock and pop songs to entertain local families.

The theatre is offering several performances with extra support to make the show accessible to more residents. These include specific dates with British Sign Language interpretation, audio descriptions for people with sight loss, and on-screen captions for the hard of hearing.

Chief Executive Douglas Rintoul stated that the production is a priority for the local creative scene and is designed for audiences of all ages. The 400-seat venue on Civic Drive has a long history of hosting these musical performances, following previous shows such as Sleeping Beauty.

By extending the show over an eight-week period, the venue aims to give more people the chance to book a visit. These accessible performances are part of an ongoing effort to ensure all community members can enjoy live theatre in the town.
