Ipswich Buses will introduce several timetable and route changes across Ipswich, Suffolk, starting on Sunday 12 April 2026 to help services run on time. This is the first major network update for the town since August 2025 and will affect routes 1, 2, 7, 16, 92, 93, 93A, 118, and 119, along with school bus services 616 and 997.
Service 1 will no longer travel through Sandy Hill Lane and Roebuck Road because of heavy traffic, remaining on Landseer Road instead with two new bus stops added at the Sandyhill Lane junction. In Colchester, the 93 and 93A services will use a new bus lane on Northern Approach Road to reach Colchester General Hospital more quickly by avoiding busy streets.
The part of routes 118 and 119 between Framlingham and Stradbroke is being stopped and replaced by a new service called the 482. This new route will be run by Transport Made Simple and is funded by Suffolk County Council through a government improvement plan.
These upcoming changes follow recent travel disruptions in the town, including emergency road closures this week on Whitehouse Road and Stoke Street that have forced buses on routes 8 and 15 to take different paths. Repairs on Clapgate Lane are also affecting route 2 until 25 March 2026, with some stops between Cliff Lane Triangle and the local shops currently closed during the day.
According to Ipswich Borough Council, which owns the bus company, the network has recently seen investment including four new double-decker buses added to the fleet. Residents are encouraged to check the new timetables for all affected routes before the changes begin in April.
