As of 4:05am on February 19, 2026, the Met Office has officially cleared all weather warnings for Ipswich, Suffolk. The removal of these alerts follows several days of icy conditions and freezing temperatures that had affected the region.

Ipswich and the surrounding area were under a yellow weather warning for ice as recently as February 17 and February 18, 2026. This followed a separate snow warning that was issued on February 15, 2026, for other parts of the county including Stowmarket and Newmarket.

Forecasters had previously warned that rain, sleet, and snow would lead to icy patches on roads and paths that were not treated with salt. While the official alerts have ended, drivers and pedestrians are still encouraged to take care on shaded surfaces where ice may remain.

Local travel in the town is also being impacted by planned maintenance rather than just the weather. Current traffic reports show there are temporary traffic lights on the A1071 at Thorpes Hill and ongoing works on Austin Street.

The Met Office suggests that the risk of widespread disruption has now lowered as temperatures begin to stabilise. Residents should remain alert during the early morning hours until the sun has enough time to warm cold surfaces in residential areas.
