The Northgate Room at Ipswich County Library in Suffolk will be closed to the public for private events beginning all day on 31 March 2026. This space is normally used by residents for quiet study and community meetings, but it will be unavailable during several specific dates throughout the spring season.

According to Suffolk Community Libraries, the room will also be closed from 5:00 PM on 1 April and 2 April 2026. Further closures are set for later in the year, including from 2:00 PM on 22 May, all day on 24 May, and from 2:00 PM on 26 May 2026.

Charmain Osborne, the executive library manager, is responsible for the facility which is located on Northgate Street. While the Northgate Room is booked for these private functions, the rest of the library building and its services will remain open for the public to use during regular hours.

Residents who typically use the room for late afternoon study or meetings should plan their visits around these times. These closures are part of the library’s regular practice of hiring out specific rooms for private community events and functions.
