Residents in Ipswich, Suffolk, should prepare for heavy rain, strong winds, and a chance of snow beginning Friday, February 13, 2026. The Met Office predicts a period of unsettled weather that may cause travel delays and slippery roads throughout the weekend.

The wet weather will start with persistent rain and breezy conditions on Friday, followed by a cold and frosty Saturday morning. Because of the heavy rainfall, the Environment Agency is monitoring water levels on the River Gipping to manage the risk of flooding in low-lying riverside areas.

On Sunday, February 15, 2026, the town could see winds of over 50mph and a brief mix of snow or sleet. These high winds might lead National Highways to close the Orwell Bridge, which often causes heavy traffic in the town centre as vehicles are diverted.

Train passengers should also check for updates, as Greater Anglia may slow down services to prevent damage to overhead power lines during the storm. Drivers and pedestrians are advised to take extra care on slippery surfaces and to check the latest local forecasts before starting any journeys.
