Residents in Kingswinford will have the opportunity to access free health checks and cancer awareness information when a mobile service visits the area from 5 May to 9 May 2026. The Black Country Cancer Bus, a double-decker vehicle staffed by health professionals, is being hosted locally by Kingswinford Medical Practice.

This initiative allows local people to walk in without an appointment to receive health checks, such as blood pressure and blood sugar tests. Visitors can also learn about the early signs of cancer, receive guidance on how to spot-check for various conditions, and get information about the three main screening programmes for breast, bowel, and cervical cancer. Staff from Macmillan Cancer Support will be on board to provide additional assistance.

The visit is organised by the NHS Black Country Integrated Care Board in partnership with local authorities to help improve cancer survival rates and screening participation in the region.

Similar mobile clinics have seen significant engagement in the past. During a previous tour in September 2024, more than 1,100 people visited the bus, with over 400 receiving health checks. That engagement resulted in several attendees receiving referrals to their doctors, including some fast-track appointments for those who presented with visible symptoms.

The outreach programme is part of a wider effort by the West Midlands Cancer Alliance to bring essential health services directly into local communities. Residents are encouraged to take advantage of the service while it is stationed in Kingswinford throughout the week.
