Community groups and charities in Kirkby have until 16 June 2026 to apply for grants of up to £3,000 through the Merseyside Community Investment Fund. The fund, which opened on 5 May, brings together businesses, organisations and individuals to tackle urgent social issues across the Liverpool City Region. It is administered by the Community Foundation for Merseyside, with financial backing from Professional Liverpool Ltd.

Kirkby lies within Knowsley, one of six council areas covered by the programme alongside Halton, Liverpool, Sefton, St Helens and Wirral. Priority will be given to projects that target disadvantage and deprivation, particularly those supporting young people, older residents and people with disabilities. The fund is also designed to back innovative ideas that might struggle to secure money from more traditional or corporate‑driven sources.

Applications must be submitted online, and groups will need to provide governing documents, annual accounts, bank statements, a list of trustees and safeguarding policies. Decisions on successful bids are expected to be announced in early October 2026. Full eligibility criteria and application details are available on the Community Foundation for Merseyside website.

The Community Foundation for Merseyside has awarded more than £56.8 million in grants since it was established. In the 2025/26 financial year alone, it distributed £2.6 million across over 450 grants, reaching more than 115,000 people. Local grassroots organisations that may have found mainstream funding difficult to access are being encouraged to apply before the June deadline.
