A 30-year-old man from Kirkby was arrested on Wednesday 8 April 2026 after police discovered drugs and cash during a house search. Officers from Merseyside Police executed a warrant at a property in the town at approximately 3.40pm.

During the operation, officers seized a significant quantity of cocaine along with approximately £5,000 in cash. The man was arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm without a certificate and has since been released under investigation while forensic examinations and enquiries continue.

Detective Inspector Steven O’Neill of Merseyside Police stated that the force remains committed to disrupting the link between drug supply and illegal firearms. He noted that such criminal activity brings fear and violence into local communities.

This arrest forms part of wider efforts to tackle serious crime in the area. Earlier this year, police conducted a week of intensive action between 2 March and 8 March 2026, which resulted in 237 arrests and the dismantling of 17 drug supply lines across Merseyside. During that operation, officers recovered more than £42,000 in cash and 35 weapons, including handguns and imitation firearms.

The Kirkby Neighbourhood Board, which works alongside Knowsley Council, has identified safe and stronger neighbourhoods as a primary focus within its local investment plans. Residents who wish to report information regarding criminality in their community can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers to remain anonymous.
