The Lancashire Elderly And Disabled Support (LEADS) group announced on February 19, 2026, that it is launching discounted plumbing and heating services for vulnerable people in Lancaster, Lancashire. This new initiative is designed to help elderly and disabled households access essential home repairs and maintenance at a lower cost than standard commercial rates.

Qualified residents can get help with boiler repairs, bathroom accessibility work, and general plumbing maintenance. The charity also provides a 24-hour emergency call-out service to ensure that local homes remain safe and warm throughout the year.

According to official statistics, about 13 per cent of households in England were struggling with fuel costs in 2025. Information from Lancashire County Council shows that many homes in Lancaster have lower energy efficiency ratings, which often leads to higher heating bills and more frequent maintenance needs.

The project aims to help people avoid high commercial prices and markups that often make emergency repairs unaffordable for those on a low income. By providing independent and vetted services, the charity focuses on keeping residents safe and reducing the financial pressure caused by unexpected home repairs.
