Families in Garstang can look forward to live music this bank holiday Monday, May 25, 2026, as Lancaster City Brass joins the town’s annual Children’s Festival. The band will lead lively processions through the town centre at 11am and 6pm, marking their participation in one of the area’s longest-running community celebrations.

The Garstang Children’s Festival is a historic event held at Whitsuntide that is celebrating over 150 years of tradition. The day features two main processions that wind through the streets, highlighting the crowning of the Festival Queen, visiting queens from surrounding villages, colourful floats, and Morris dancers. The evening procession will also include a fancy-dress competition for participants.

Lancaster City Brass, which has been under the leadership of Musical Director Nicola Bell since 2015, is the oldest remaining brass band in Lancaster. Originally established in 1946 by the Storeys plastics factory, the group has a heritage spanning more than 75 years. The band continues to perform at various local events throughout the year.
