Residents in Lancaster can look forward to a mostly warm week ahead, according to the latest forecast from the Met Office. While Monday 27 April will bring light afternoon showers, conditions are set to turn brighter from Wednesday, with daytime temperatures peaking at 20°C later in the week.

This week’s temperatures are expected to be higher than the usual April average of 11°C to 12°C. After a cooler Tuesday reaching 16°C, the weather will improve, offering conditions for outdoor activities such as walking along the River Lune or tending to gardens. However, those spending time outside should be aware that wind gusts are expected to reach up to 32mph on Thursday.

As the weather remains settled, pollen levels are forecast to rise, reaching high levels by Thursday and Friday, which may affect hay fever sufferers. The Met Office also notes that ultraviolet levels will remain moderate throughout the week. Residents are advised to wear sunscreen, particularly during midday hours, even though air quality remains good.

Early morning fog may develop midweek as clear skies at night cause temperatures to drop to around 4°C in the early hours of Wednesday morning. Looking further ahead, the weather is expected to become more changeable between 1 and 10 May, with an increased likelihood of showers and stronger winds, though periods of warm sunshine are still anticipated.
