A 63-year-old man was sentenced to 14 years in prison on 6 March 2026 after he admitted to raping and sexually assaulting a vulnerable man in Lancaster, Lancashire. The attacks took place over the weekend of 8 March 2025 at a property in the city before the offender was arrested by police officers a few days later.

Andrew Morris, who has no fixed address, pleaded guilty at Preston Crown Court to raping a man in his 30s and two counts of sexual assault. According to Lancashire Constabulary, the victim suffered from learning disabilities and mental health challenges, which the attacker used to manipulate his trust for his own gain.

The total sentence includes eight years in a prison cell and an extra six years on a special licence, meaning the offender will be supervised by the authorities for a long time after his release to help keep the public safe. Detective Constable Kirsten Bell of the West Vulnerable Adult Team said the case shows how seriously the police take reports of abuse against people who may be easily taken advantage of by others.

Support services are available for anyone in the local community who has experienced sexual violence or abuse. Residents can reach out for help and advice through organisations like Victim Support Lancashire and Trust House Lancashire.
