Luton Central Library is opening its doors this month for the Energise Holiday Camps, a six-week programme of activities for children aged 4 to 8. The camps, run by charity Active Luton, start on Monday 20 July and run through to Friday 28 August.
The sessions include drama activities, puppet shows, pop-Disney singing, arts and crafts, and robotics workshops. Each day, children receive a nutritious meal. The programme is free for children on income-related Free School Meals, while others can attend on a pay-as-you-go basis at £18.80 per child. Each eligible child can book a maximum of 16 sessions across the summer.
The camps are part of Luton’s wider Holiday Activity and Food programme, funded by the Department for Education. Active Luton operates the scheme at several other venues too, including Inspire: Luton Sports Village, Lea Manor Recreation Centre, and Lewsey Sports Park & Pool. The Central Library camp is the only one designed specifically for the younger age group, with other locations catering for children up to 16.
Bookings are available now on the Energise Luton website, with phone support on 03330 384146 and a booking guide at help.eequ.org. Active Luton can also be reached on 01582 256000. The initiative gives families an option for structured childcare and activities through the school break, particularly those who qualify for free places.
