A man from Castle Croft Road in Luton, Bedfordshire, has been sentenced to more than ten years in prison after a violent attack on police officers and dangerous driving.

Sabir Dad, in his late 20s, was sentenced on 5 February 2026 after being convicted of dangerous driving, driving while disqualified and failing to stop for police, following a pursuit in which the court treated his vehicle as a weapon used to target emergency workers.

The sentence is unusually high for driving-related offences and reflects the court’s assessment that the vehicle had been used with intent to cause serious harm. Bedfordshire Police has previously campaigned for tougher penalties for attacks on emergency workers under initiatives such as ‘Protect the Protectors.’

According to Bedfordshire Live, Dad previously led officers on a 100mph chase through Luton in 2021 in a silver BMW hours after his 16-year-old cousin, Humza Hussain, was fatally stabbed — an episode that brought him to public attention.

The sentence will be seen by some as a significant response to vehicle-enabled attacks on emergency responders and repeat offending on the roads.
