Luton Council has launched its newly redesigned website to help residents access local services more easily. The launch on 25 March 2026 follows a period of public testing and a six-year project to modernise the council’s digital platform.
The new site for Luton Council is designed to be easier to read, simpler to navigate, and fully compatible with mobile phones. It was built using LocalGov Drupal, an open-source system created by more than 50 councils to ensure websites are accessible to everyone. The project was led by Atika Mohammed, the Director of Digital, Data and Technology at the council, who joined the authority in 2024.
Instead of moving old information automatically, the digital team wrote and organised the content manually. This approach ensures the site meets legal accessibility standards, making it easier for all residents to find what they need. The launch is part of the wider Luton 2040 vision to create a healthier, fairer, and more sustainable town.
Early users have already used the platform for tasks such as reporting fly-tipping in the Lewsey area. Luton Council is now asking for more residents to share their thoughts through a feedback form on the site to help make further improvements.
