Residents in Macclesfield can receive expert guidance on staying safe outdoors and at home during the upcoming Cheshire Safety Day, taking place on Wednesday 27 May 2026. Organised by Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service, the event will provide practical advice on avoiding accidents as the warmer weather encourages more people to visit the countryside.

The safety sessions will be held at two key locations on the edge of the Peak District: Tegg’s Nose Country Park in Macclesfield, which is managed by Cheshire East Council, and the National Trust estate of Lyme Park in Disley. Firefighters will be on hand at both sites to discuss the importance of BBQ and wildfire safety awareness to help protect the local landscape.

In addition to wildfire prevention, the event will offer free safety tips covering road and water safety, as well as general advice for fire safety within the home. Beyond the main park locations, firefighters will also have a presence in surrounding areas, including at Handforth Dean Retail Park in Wilmslow and Friars Garden Centre in Knutsford.

This initiative is part of the service’s ongoing work to support the 1.07 million people living across Cheshire East, Cheshire West and Chester, Halton and Warrington. Local youth engagement has also recently expanded in the area, following the reopening of the Macclesfield Fire Cadets unit in March 2026 with support from the Department for Culture, Media and Sport.
