Cheshire East Council announced significant improvements to the 130 bus service and the launch of a new 150 route in Macclesfield, Cheshire, on 26 February 2026 to help residents get around more easily. These changes aim to provide better connections to local railway stations and employment hubs while offering more frequent rides for commuters and shoppers.

A new 150 service now runs between the railway stations in Macclesfield and Wilmslow by way of Alderley Park. This new link allows workers to reach the Alderley Park site from the Macclesfield train station in as little as 20 minutes. When combined with the existing 130 route, passengers can now catch a bus every 30 minutes between Macclesfield and the employment hub from Monday-to-Friday.

The 130 service, operated by D&G Bus, will continue to serve Manchester Airport and Wythenshawe to provide links to the wider Greater Manchester area. These upgrades are funded by the UK government through the Department for Transport and its plan to improve local bus networks.

Councillor Mark Goldsmith, who chairs the council’s transport committee, said the changes provide better access to trains and strengthen local connections. He noted that the council is committed to growing the bus network, which recently received high ratings for passenger satisfaction. The council hopes these more reliable services will encourage more people to choose the bus over driving their own cars.
