Players from the Macclesfield FC first-team squad visited the children’s ward at Macclesfield District General Hospital on Thursday, 2 April 2026, to spend time with young patients and staff while delivering gifts. The visit was organised as a joint effort between Macclesfield FC, the Macclesfield FC Community Sports Trust, and the East Cheshire NHS Trust.

The players spent the afternoon meeting families and posing for photographs. The event had been originally planned for Christmas 2025, but was postponed following the tragic death of 21-year-old forward Ethan McLeod, who passed away in a car accident in December.

Lee Folkard, head of the Macclesfield FC Community Sports Trust, said the visit provided an opportunity to do something positive for children on the ward. He noted that the trust has maintained a long-standing partnership with the hospital, including annual gift-giving efforts that continued even during the pandemic.

The community visit took place during a successful period for the club. Heading into the busy Easter weekend, the team was on a run of four consecutive victories, including a 4-2 win against Buxton on Good Friday. The squad prepared for these events while holding third place in the National League North.
