Macclesfield FC has asked supporters to stay away from the Leasing.com Stadium in Cheshire following a suspected arson attack in the early hours of 3 March 2026. Emergency services were called to the ground at approximately 1:00 AM after flames were spotted rising over the stadium walls. Officials confirmed that nobody was injured in the blaze, which is currently being investigated as a deliberate act.
The fire involved at least two portable toilets located at the ground, with Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service and the Cheshire Constabulary working to determine the full extent of the damage to the site. The club has asked the local community to avoid the area while investigators carry out their work at the stadium, which is also known locally as Moss Rose.
The incident took place on a day the first team, led by manager John Rooney, was originally scheduled to play Darlington away. However, that fixture had been postponed prior to the incident due to pitch conditions at Blackwell Meadows. While the squad was not on site, the ground serves as a daily hub for local schools and the club’s training programmes. The club’s leadership is now assessing the damage to determine how the fire will affect upcoming community bookings and future matchdays.
