Families in Middlesbrough can now sign up for free, wizard-themed holiday activities for children during the upcoming May half term. Organised by Middlesbrough Environment City, The Enchanted Academy will provide children with magical challenges, potion-making, and games on 27 May and 29 May 2026.
The sessions are funded by the Holiday Activities and Food programme, a Department for Education initiative. The events are specifically aimed at children aged 6 to 13 who are eligible for benefits-related free school meals.
In addition to activities such as mystical experiments and magical quests, the programme incorporates lessons on the Eat Well Guide and healthy portion sizes. Each four-hour session, running from 10:00 to 14:00, also provides a healthy meal for attendees.
Spaces are limited and those interested are encouraged to book early. Reservations can be made through the Eequ booking platform.
Middlesbrough Environment City is a charity founded in 1992 (becoming an independent charity in 1997) that focuses on promoting healthy and sustainable lifestyles across the Tees Valley. The organisation is registered with the Charity Commission under number 1070131.
