Cleveland Police are searching for a rider after a dog died following a collision with an e-bike at Linthorpe Cemetery in Middlesbrough, North Yorkshire, on February 12, 2026.

The incident happened at approximately 2:15 PM while a man was walking his pet through the cemetery grounds near Burlam Road. According to Cleveland Police, the dog was struck by a black e-bike being ridden at high speed.

The rider is described as a man in his twenties with dark hair and dark clothing. He reportedly fell from the bike during the crash and may have sustained a cut on his head, but he left the area shortly after the collision without leaving any details.

The site is managed by Middlesbrough Council as a local nature reserve and a quiet space for the community. Although the owner took the dog for emergency veterinary treatment immediately after the incident, the pet did not survive its injuries.

Officers are now appealing for any witnesses or anyone with CCTV and dashcam footage from the surrounding streets to come forward. Anyone who can help identify the rider should contact the police by calling 101 and quoting the reference number 027484.
