Community organisations across Middlesbrough can now bid for money from four separate council grant pots, with the earliest deadline falling in just three weeks. Youth funding of up to £20,000, a Community Grant Fund offering £1,000, Staying Included grants worth up to £2,500, and Short Break Grants of up to £3,000 are all open to constituted voluntary and community sector groups.
The youth funding stream provides as much as £20,000 for established providers and £10,000 for newer groups, with priority given to projects in ten wards including Marton East, Marton West, Nunthorpe and Coulby Newham. Applications must be in by 5pm on Tuesday 23 June. Staying Included grants, aimed at organisations helping vulnerable residents live independently and remain connected to their communities, share a total pot of £12,500 for the 2026/27 financial year and close at 9am on Thursday 25 June.
The Community Grant Fund is designed to support pilot projects, the expansion of existing work, or one-off equipment purchases. Groups have until 10am on Monday 7 September to apply. Short Break Grants, which fund activities for children and young people with disabilities or who are neurodiverse, must be submitted by 10am on 9 July. All successful bids will need to show how they contribute to the Middlesbrough Council priorities of a successful town, healthy communities, safe neighbourhoods, best value and transformation.
Constituted groups wanting more information can email [email protected] or use the council’s online application portal. A Find a Funder tool is also available on the council website to help organisations identify the most suitable grant.
