Passengers in Milton Keynes should prepare for higher bus fares as the cost of MK Move smart card passes is set to rise from 18 May 2026. The price adjustments, announced by Get Around MK, will affect all categories of the multi-operator tickets used across the borough.
Under the new pricing structure, the cost of a one-day pass will increase to £7. Weekly passes will rise to £27, and the price of a four-weekly pass will become £95. These figures mark the second price increase for the MK Move scheme in the last 18 months, following a previous change that took effect on 5 January 2025.
While Milton Keynes City Council handles the administration of the scheme, the council noted that all decisions regarding ticket pricing are made by the individual transport companies that form the MK Move Operators Group. These passes remain valid for travel on services provided by Arriva, Uno, Red Rose, Z&S and Stagecoach.
The recent changes in local fares follow a national trend. According to research from the Health Foundation, bus fares across the United Kingdom have climbed by 94 percent since 2015. This is significantly higher than the 39 percent increase recorded for general inflation over the same period.
