A network of contactless donation points across Milton Keynes has passed the £30,000 fundraising milestone, reported in early February 2026. The initiative lets residents donate £3 with a quick tap of a card or mobile device at several busy city-centre locations.

The money is paid into a dedicated Homeless Support Fund managed by the Milton Keynes Community Foundation. The foundation distributes grants to local frontline charities, including the Milton Keynes Homelessness Partnership (MKHP), to provide immediate help such as food, emergency shelter and other support services.

There are at least 10 tap-to-donate machines located at high-footfall spots including Xscape MK, Midsummer Place and Milton Keynes Central station. The project is led by MyMiltonKeynes (the Business Improvement District), which covers the machines’ running costs so that 100% of public donations are passed to local charities and support services.

Jill Farnsworth, Chief Executive of MyMiltonKeynes, said: “Real Change Not Loose Change is about giving people a way to turn that compassion into something that definitely helps. Tap to Donate ensures generosity goes directly to local services that can offer practical support, safety and longer-term solutions for those who need it.” Local reporting by MKFM notes the scheme has grown steadily since it launched in December 2019, offering a digital alternative to giving cash on the street.
