Milton Keynes City Council approved a new long-term plan on 5 March 2026 to revitalise Bletchley and Fenny Stratford in Buckinghamshire, including funding for a new entrance at the local train station. This decision marks a major step in the growth of the area, promising better transport links and a boost for local shops and businesses.
The project includes the creation of a new eastern entrance at Bletchley Station. According to Milton Keynes City Council, this new entrance is designed to work with the wider East West Rail project to make it easier for residents to travel across the region.
The local plan focuses on five main goals, which include making high streets more vibrant and creating more jobs and training for people in the community. It also aims to protect local heritage while improving environmental and transport links for the town.
This new vision builds on earlier work supported by £22.7 million in government funding from the Town Deal, which was first secured in 2020. Local leaders said the plan was shaped by the people living in the area to ensure it meets the needs of the community.
Cllr Lauren Townsend, the Deputy Leader of the council, said the vision was shaped by the residents of Bletchley and Fenny Stratford and marks an exciting moment for the area. The council will now move forward with the next stage of the project to bring these changes to the town centres.
