Patients and visitors at Milton Keynes University Hospital in Buckinghamshire will see changes to car parking charges starting from 1 April 2026. The hospital trust is updating its prices to make the payment system simpler and to help pay for the rising costs of looking after the car parks on the site.
The hospital, which is located on Standing Way in Eaglestone, currently offers 15 minutes of free parking for those dropping off or picking up. Under the current rates, it costs £3.00 for one hour, £4.00 for up to three hours, and £22.00 for a weekly ticket. These rates are set to change next month as the hospital attempts to make the pricing structure clearer for everyone who drives to the facility.
According to official figures, the hospital earned £1.4 million from parking fees in 2023, which was an increase from the £1.1 million collected the year before. After paying the £522,000 cost of managing the car parks, the hospital was left with a net income of £921,000. The parking areas are managed by Saba Park Services UK Limited, which looks after more than 2,000 spaces across the hospital grounds.
Blue Badge holders will still be able to park for free by scanning their badges at the payment machines before they leave. Hospital staff will also continue to park for free, a policy that has been in place since 2019. Drivers using the multi-storey car park should remain aware of the height limit, which is set at 210cm.
