The MK Food Bank is looking for local businesses and residents to sign up for the 2026 Milton Keynes Dragon Boat Festival, which will take place at Willen Lake, Buckinghamshire, on July 04, 2026.
Teams of 11 to 15 people will race 30-foot brightly coloured boats across the water to raise money for emergency food supplies. No previous experience is needed to take part, and training is provided by organisers NewWave Events on the day of the race.
The money raised will go toward buying essential items like tinned meat, long-life milk, and toiletries for the charity’s parcel service, which delivered 20,000 packages last year. Residents who do not want to race can still attend the free event at Willen Lake to enjoy food, music, and family entertainment.
There are 48 team spots available for the competition, and entries are now open through MKFM and Business MK. The charity hopes the event will help close a funding gap to support the nearly 30 per cent of local children currently living in poverty.
