Andrew Georgiou, 45, was sentenced to life in prison at Aylesbury Crown Court on 24 March 2026 for the murder of his wife, Carol Georgiou, at their home in Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire. The court handed down a minimum term of 15 years and 286 days for the killing, which took place in late 2024.

The court heard that Georgiou drowned the 42-year-old mother of two in their garden hot tub in the early hours of 2 November 2024. The incident happened after the couple returned from a night out, during a time when Carol was determined to end their 19-year marriage.

According to Thames Valley Police, Georgiou waited 40 minutes before calling 999 and initially lied to officers by claiming he had found his wife unresponsive. Investigators later found evidence of stalking and controlling behaviour, including hidden cameras in the home and a tracking device on Carol’s car.

The CPS noted that Georgiou only pleaded guilty in December 2025 after being confronted with CCTV footage and audio from a neighbour’s property. The recording captured the sounds of the struggle and Carol telling her husband that their relationship was over.

Carol’s family described her as a kind and vibrant person who was a central part of their lives. During the sentencing hearing, family members wore flamingo-themed clothing as a tribute to Carol, who was known to her loved ones by that nickname.
