The Milton Keynes City Council launched its 2026 Community Safety Survey on 25 February 2026 to hear what people think about security across Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire. This annual check-in allows those living in the city to have a direct say in how the local authority and its partners spend money on making the community feel safer.
The council will use the results to decide where to focus resources for street lighting, CCTV cameras, and police patrols. It also looks at the effectiveness of youth services and how to best support young people in the area.
Cllr Amber McQuillan, the cabinet member for community safety and partnerships, explained that every response helps the council understand what people experience every day. This data is essential for the council to take the right actions in specific neighbourhoods.
Feedback from previous years has already led to significant changes, including securing almost £750,000 in extra funding from the government. This money was used to upgrade lighting and cameras in pedestrian underpasses and other public spaces.
The council also recently introduced a new system to speed up response times for reports of anti-social behaviour. This project is part of the work done by the SaferMK partnership, which involves the council and Thames Valley Police working together to tackle local crime.
