Residents looking to explore the outdoors in Milton Keynes have a new resource available as the city prepares for its annual walking festival. The Parks Trust, an independent charity that manages over 6,000 acres of local green space, has released a comprehensive guide to help people discover the area’s parks, woodlands, and community spots.

The new guide highlights several local landmarks, including the city’s iconic Concrete Cows, which were created by artist Liz Leyh in 1978. It also features details on Campbell Park, a city centre location that includes thirteen pieces of public art and the Light Pyramid, a 2012 sculpture by Liliane Lijn that offers panoramic views of the area. Additionally, the guide points to community spaces like the Woughton on the Green Community Orchard, which is marking its 50th anniversary this year.

To encourage residents to make use of these spaces, the city is hosting the MK Walking Festival 2026. Running from 6 May through 10 May, the festival features more than 15 events across the city. According to David Lewis, the charity’s recreation and volunteer engagement coordinator, the festival offers a variety of walks and activities suitable for all ages and ability levels.

The festival aims to connect people with nature and the city’s extensive network of green areas. Residents can find information on the full programme of guided walks and outdoor activities on the charity’s website.
