Buckinghamshire Council launched an interactive map on February 17, 2026, to show residents exactly where thousands of new homes might be built on the edges of Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire. The new online tool allows people to see if green fields or former building sites near their homes have been suggested for future development.

Buckinghamshire Council is looking for enough land to meet new government targets, which require building 4,122 homes every year across the region. While the council says it prefers building on land that has been used before, technical studies are being used to see if building on countryside areas near the city is necessary to meet the high demand.

Major projects already planned for the area include 1,200 homes at Shenley Park and 1,855 homes at Salden Chase. These sites have caused concern for neighbours who worry about the impact of more traffic and pressure on local services like doctors and schools.

Concerns have been raised about how the city-wide grid roads and healthcare system will cope with the extra population. Residents are being encouraged to use the sites for possible development map to share their thoughts, as this feedback will help decide which locations are included in the final building plan for the next twenty years.
