Northamptonshire Police found the body of a man in the River Nene in Northampton, Northamptonshire, on the afternoon of Tuesday 24 February 2026. This discovery followed a five-day search that began after witnesses saw a man struggling in the water near the town marina on Friday evening.

Emergency crews were first called to the Northampton Marina, located off Victoria Promenade, just after 7.30pm on Friday 20 February 2026. Specialist teams used underwater thermal imaging equipment to help locate the man after an extensive search of the riverbanks and water.

The operation included volunteers from Northamptonshire Search and Rescue and crews from the Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service. While formal identification has not yet taken place, officers have notified the family of a local man and are providing them with support.

This search happened during a week of high police activity in the town following the death of 20-year-old Mason Miller on 18 February 2026. Authorities have asked the public for privacy for the family as they continue their enquiries into the incident at the river.
