On 2 February 2026, Northamptonshire Police carried out an operation at a residential address in Northampton after reports that a teenage boy had been seen brandishing a large machete. Officers searched the property and seized multiple weapons; no one was injured during the incident.

Police say the seized items were taken from the property and removed from circulation to reduce the risk to the community.

According to CrimeRate, possession of weapons offences in Northamptonshire had a rate of 1.19 per 1,000 people — 1.43 times the national average — for the 12 months ending November 2025. Data from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) (Crime in England and Wales, year ending September 2025) provides regional crime-trend context that police cite when prioritising safety in residential areas.

Local officers are asking anyone with doorbell-camera or CCTV footage from 2 February to check their recordings and contact Northamptonshire Police with any information. Residents can also follow local coverage in the Northampton Chronicle & Echo or view updates on the force’s news pages.
