Families across West Northamptonshire have received their primary school offers for September 2026, with the vast majority of children securing a place at one of their preferred schools.

On 16 April, West Northamptonshire Council confirmed that 4,431 reception places have been allocated for the upcoming school year. Figures show that 94.7% of applicants secured a place at their first-choice school, a slight increase from 94.6% in 2025. Furthermore, 99.45% of families were offered a place at one of their preferred schools.

For pupils moving into Year 3 from an infant school, the results were equally positive. A total of 196 junior school places were allocated, with 100% of pupils securing their first preference.

Councillor Michael Stratton, Cabinet Member for children, families and education at the council, acknowledged that the process can be an anxious time for families. He stated that the admissions team remains available to provide guidance and support to parents and carers who may not have received their first preference.

For families who wish to challenge an allocation, the deadline for submitting appeal forms is 5pm on 15 May 2026. Additionally, the council has confirmed there will be three reallocation rounds for late applicants taking place on 18 May, 22 June, and 13 July 2026.
