A former special constable with Northamptonshire Police has been convicted of 22 sexual offences, including rape, assault, and the possession of indecent images of children. The conviction of 48-year-old Wissem Bonafia was announced by the force on 30 March 2026, following a lengthy investigation.
The offences took place between 2014 and 2019, with incidents occurring in Kettering as well as in Lancashire. Bonafia, who resided at Tothill Street in Ebbw Vale, Gwent, served as a volunteer officer before resigning from his role in 2021.
The legal proceedings originally began in June 2024 with 15 charges. These included serious allegations such as strangling a woman until she lost consciousness, two counts of rape, and causing actual bodily harm. Additional charges involved the possession of indecent images of children in both Lancashire and London, as well as inciting a young girl to engage in sexual activity and attempting to pervert the course of justice.
Following the conviction, Bonafia is currently awaiting sentencing.
