Market Square in Northampton, Northamptonshire, will see temporary road closures on the morning of Sunday, 29 March 2026, to allow for the annual HMS Laforey Parade. West Northamptonshire Council has confirmed that the area will be shut to traffic between 9:30am and 10:30am. This short closure is needed so the community can safely hold its yearly act of remembrance in the town centre.

The event is organised by the Northampton Sea Cadets to honour the memory of the HMS Laforey and its crew. The ship was a Royal Navy destroyer that was officially adopted by the people of Northampton in 1941. It was later lost in 1944 after being hit by a torpedo during the Second World War.

Drivers are being told to plan their journeys ahead of time to avoid any delays around the town centre while the event takes place. The council will manage the road signs and traffic during the hour-long closure. Normal travel should return to the area shortly after the parade finishes at 10:30am.
