Northampton Town FC has appointed Chris Hogg as the club’s new first-team manager on a two-year contract, marking a significant leadership change as the team prepares for the upcoming season in League Two. The 41-year-old, formerly an assistant head coach at Norwich City, officially took the position on 18 May 2026 and will be joined by assistant Chris Doig.

The appointment follows a difficult campaign for the club, which saw Northampton Town relegated from League One in April 2026. After finishing at the bottom of the table, the team experienced a record-breaking run of 10 consecutive league defeats, with relegation confirmed following a 2-1 loss against Luton Town on 15 April 2026. The managerial vacancy arose after Kevin Nolan was sacked on 9 March 2026, with technical director Colin Calderwood taking interim charge for the remainder of the season.

Speaking on his first day, Chris Hogg said, “We need to forget everything that’s been and wipe the slate clean because it’s about the future now. I feel privileged to be here and I’ll do everything I can and I’ll work tirelessly to put a team on the pitch that fans can be proud of.”

Club chairman Kelvin Thomas expressed confidence in the new appointment, stating, “Chris Hogg was outstanding throughout the recruitment process. Not only in terms of how he presented to us, but in terms of the feedback we received from across the game about Chris.”

Chris Doig, a former Northampton Town captain who made 129 appearances for the club as a player, joins the management team following a compensation agreement with Boston United. As the club looks ahead, officials have confirmed that season ticket prices for the 2026-27 season have been frozen. Preparations for the new campaign also include a pre-season friendly against Cambridge United on Tuesday 28 July 2026.
