Police are appealing for the public’s help after a collision between a marked police car and a male cyclist in Irchester, Northamptonshire, on Wednesday 4 February 2026. The collision happened at about 7.30pm on Gipsy Lane.
The cyclist was treated at the scene before being transferred to University Hospital Coventry. Northamptonshire Police said his injuries were “non-life-changing or threatening”, a detail reported by BBC News.
Northamptonshire Police has voluntarily referred the incident to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) — in line with standard protocol when police vehicles are involved in collisions. Detectives from the force’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit are investigating the circumstances of the collision.
