A resident in King’s Sutton, Northamptonshire, has been ordered to pay a total of £5,800 after he repeatedly ignored a legal order to stop playing loud music. On 10 March 2026, the West Northamptonshire Council confirmed that Oliver Page was found guilty of 40 separate offences related to noise nuisance.
Council officers first began investigating complaints about loud music at the property in January 2025. When the disturbances continued, the council served a formal notice that legally required the resident to stop causing a nuisance to his neighbours.
In July 2025, officials used a court warrant to enter the home and seize several televisions and speaker systems. However, the resident bought new sound equipment within 48 hours and immediately began playing loud music again.
A court found the resident guilty of the offences in January 2026 after he continued to break the rules throughout the previous year. The final penalty includes a £2,000 fine, £3,000 in legal costs, and an £800 victim surcharge.
Councillor Andrew Last, who is responsible for regulatory services, said the fine serves as a warning to anyone who ignores official noise notices. The council stated that it will continue to use its legal powers to protect the peace and quiet of local residents.
