The Norwich Foodbank in Norfolk has issued an urgent appeal for donations of UHT (long-life) milk and tinned meat as it struggles to meet high demand in early February 2026. The charity says warehouse stocks of these items are critically low, making it difficult to provide balanced three-day emergency food parcels to local families in need.
Project Manager Hannah Worsley said the organisation is also short of toiletries and tinned goods, including ham, corned beef and tinned pies. This shortage follows a busy year: the foodbank, which is part of the Trussell Trust network, reports that almost 93 tonnes (92,808 kg) of food went out in emergency parcels during 2025.
Staff at the warehouse say they are currently providing food for around 1,200 adults and children each month. While donations often dip at this time of year, the number of people asking for help has remained high as households face rising utility bills and housing costs.
Residents can drop off donations at the main warehouse (Unit 14, Henderson Industrial Units, Ivy Road, Norwich NR5 8BF) or at collection points in local supermarkets, including Tesco, Sainsbury’s and Waitrose. Those looking for more information on local support can also visit the food assistance directory hosted by The Feed.
