Norwich Foodbank has updated its urgent wishlist to prioritise protein-rich and nutritious staples, including tinned meat, fruit, peanut butter, and jam. These items are now the top priority for donation points across the city following a review of the organisation’s needs on 24 March 2026.
The foodbank, which is part of the Trussell Trust network, has removed long-life juice from its urgent items list. Other currently requested supplies include tinned spaghetti, long-life milk, custard, rice pudding, and toiletries such as male and female deodorants.
Operating since 2010, the foodbank currently supports an average of 1,200 people every month. Throughout 2025, the service provided emergency food supplies to 10,842 people, including 3,472 children. During that same year, the organisation distributed approximately 93 tonnes of food through its 11 distribution centres, which are located throughout Norwich and surrounding areas like Wymondham and Wroxham.
According to data from the Norfolk Anti-Poverty Alliance, Norwich faces the highest child poverty rate in the county at 31.6 percent. Local residents can drop off food donations at the foodbank warehouse at Unit 14, Henderson Business Centre, Ivy Road, on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays between 9am and 1pm. Additional donation points are also available at various supermarkets across the city.
The Norwich Foodbank provides these parcels to individuals referred by care agencies, such as Citizens Advice or school staff, to assist those facing immediate food insecurity. As part of a national effort, food banks in the Trussell Trust network distributed over 2.6 million emergency food parcels across the United Kingdom in 2025.
